The Spiritual Vision of Luchnos
Luchnos is
an image of a haven, a sanctuary, a home
where the religions
fulfill their promise, developing in harmony, cooperation and complementarity
instead of futile dispute and warfare. Let others stake out their
territories, feud and fight if they must, indulging their egos' desires to feel
superior ~
our tasks are too pressing
to allow us to pursue such childish
diversions.
Precious
treasures lie hidden within many traditions
~ sometimes in plain view, other times in deep obscurity ~
but they languish as captives to the hardened structures
of authority, which have fallen into an accommodation
with the powers and
principalities of our time,
the forces of oppression.
We must find ways
to rediscover and reintegrate
the treasures of wisdom,
to make them available once
again
to the people of the world, for whom they were intended,
for their
original purpose: the liberation, transformation and unity of body, mind and
spirit.
In the
years when I studied the history of the Maya people,
I heard this
story:
the great wisdom of Maya religion, arts and sciences
is not all lost,
but
at the time of the brutal Spanish conquest
it was dispersed, with small portions
of it hidden and preserved
in the hearts of many small communities
across the highlands and
lowlands of the Maya world.
Today this scattered wisdom is being
reassembled,
as the Maya people of Guatemala and Mexico reclaim their
destiny.
This strikes me as a very good example and image of
what has happened over
greater time and distances to
the wisdom of our human race.
Let's work together
to integrate and reunite it.
